Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 Upgrade

Posted by kblackmore On March - 18 - 2009

As I was browsing around my usual sources of technology information, I came upon this article that had some cool info about how the new release of iPhone’s 3.0 software updgrade will have some nifty features that will help out…  read on!

1. Cut, copy and paste: It’s here! Cut, copy and paste will be functional within or across applications. Users will be able to copy favorite clips from Web pages on Apple’s iPhone to your personal clipboard. Shake the iPhone to undo and redo the action, and the Cut, Copy, Paste function will work with text and photos. That’ll allow Mail to send multiple photos at a time. Of course, there is already a version for “jailbroken” iPhones: Clippy.

2. Multimedia messaging: Apple’s iPhone upgrades from SMS to MMS. Users can send and receive photos, contacts, audio files and locations with the Messages app. Also: the ability to “forward and delete multiple messages.” The Apple’s new Landscape view will come in handy for Text, Mail and Notes.

3. Bluetooth, unlocked: The mysterious A2DP chip, initially seemingly in the device solely for use with Nike+, will be put to use for wireless accessory control and peer-to-peer connection. (A2DP encodes audio to a Bluetooth-friendly format, and sends the signal wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones that decode and play the audio.) Bluetooth tethering, i.e., using an iPhone as a modem for a laptop has arrived as well. No more WiFi worries.

4. Voice Memo: Using the built-in microphone or an external, plug-in one, Voice Memo can record small voice notes, lectures, meetings, interviews, etc. An included editing tool can cut the recordings and they can be sent or any similar audio. The included editing tools allow you to trim your recordings, and they can be sent through e-mail or the new, aforementioned MMS functionality.

5. Search: Spotlight search is integrated across the entire device. Users can search for specific e-mail messages, applications, contacts, and any other data from within those applications in one place. It works similar to the Spotlight search on Mac OS X.

Well, if I run into anything else I’ll be sure to let you know.

K-Swiss may survive as a company but are people interested in their shoes?  Product Research indicates that K-Swiss holding steady while skechers are falling in terms of demand. Technically, KSwiss gets a majority of its sales (60%) from Europe. Skechers is trying to expand globally, with most of its sales in the US. It seems that Brazil is a strategic country for Skechers.

With more than 2,500 styles, SKECHERS is trying to meet the needs of male and female consumers across every age and demographic. However, consumer research indicates that the core demographic is women. The mens and kids shoe lines may not be meeting revenue expectations. These lines may be headed to liquidators, so look out for some skecher deals.

Skecher management recently noted that fresh styles will be added to their Heritage line. See the New shoe arrivals at SKECHERS!

Current consumer research indicates that the current Skecher product line with the most searches is the biker line. Some women have complained that the shoes can feel small, so it may be wise to consider a larger size. The feature of skechers that people were discussing were the no lace shoe styles.

The other key relationship for skecher is Mark Ecko. Mark Ecko understands the urban market and should help skechers from becoming a LA Gear casualty.

Sharp LC65SE94U: Buying the biggest LCD TV?

Posted by bmetzger On March - 9 - 2009

If you are going to help customers find the best LCD TV for the home via a buyers guide, lets start near the top. Sharp is the brand used by commercial video specialists when they put on large conventions and tradeshows. Insiders confirm that the electronics inside this LCD TV are top notch. They have to be since the name Sharp is on the front. The Sharp AQUOS SE94U Series has been described by hardware critics as setting the standard for large-screen flat-panel LCD TVs. The model has full HD 1080p resolution, dramatically enhanced black level and a modern thin profile and space-saving slim bezel design. There are no complaints about the picture. The Sharp 65 inch TV scores well in the reviews across the internet.  Buzzillions, CNET, Wired, PCWorld all rate it highly.

Sharp LC65SE94U 65 AQUOS 1080p LCD HDTV – $ 4999.98

Retail Price: 5999.98
You Save: $1,000.00

The LC-65SE94U utilizes the next generation of Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel, providing 27,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and 4ms response time, as well as 120Hz frame rate conversion for the ultimate in fast-motion image processing. This model does not feature the “bleeding edge” features such as 240Hz, and LED backlighting.

Sharp Aquos Prices: When the Sharp Aquos 65 HDTV first came on the market, the price tag was near $10,000. The current price seems to have stabilized between $4000 and $5000. This is still much higher that the mainstream 46 inch LCD TVS. For that extra 19 inch diagonal screen size, a buyer would be paying 3X more for the Sharp.

It could be worth the wait for newer models with 240Hz frequency given the price tag.
